Sanibel & Captiva

Hello from Sanibel island. 

Bowman' s beach - Sanibel island 

We had a wonderful day on Sanibel & Captiva Islands yesterday. 

We checked out the lighthouse, did some shelling, took a nature ride in the J.N."Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. We climbed the observation tower to view a myriad of birds basking in the sun.  Fish jumping out of the water and birds waiting to catch them. 

We walked the Mangrove Overlook Boardwalk. We saw some horseshoe crabs & all sorts of birds. This refuge is more than 6,400 acres of protected wildlife habitat on Sanibel Island.

We took a ride over to Captiva Island to see the area. There are some very large estates across from the water. Absolutely beautiful. 

After a hard day of sightseeing we stopped at a Dairy Queen for a treat. 😃

Enjoyed every minute of this lovely day.

On the Road Again!

After a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with Paul & Vicki, these two stuffed turkeys took to the road again yesterday.

We arrived at our interim location in Punta Gorda, FL around 3:00 pm. We got set up in the campground & checked out the local area a little bit.  It was a beautiful sunny day, however back down in the 40's last night brrrr.  Today looks like it will be a nice one once this bright sun warms up the day. 

Our plan for today is to check Sanibel Island.

Pouring Cats & Dogs!

Today it is pouring cats & dogs. I have never seen it rain so hard & so heavy. The temp is 75 but extremely rainy. 

Carp & I just went for a wonderful walk in the rain around the campground.  We love walking in the rain. We were like two little kids splashing in the heavy runof down the middle if the streets in the campground. 

We were quite a site in our blue ponchos.  Two crazy recycled teenagers. Loved every minute of it.

Lake Placid, FL

We went to Lake Placid FL yesterday & enjoyed a lovely lunch at Shroon's then across the street to Molly's treats. It was a nice sunny day, but a bit windy. Please see the pics of our adventure. Thanks again. 

Newest Adventure

Yesterday I took a class to learn how to drive an RV. It was extremely informative. After the class we had to take what we learned to the real thing.  I drove a 40 foot RV around the campground comprehending curves & corners & it was awesome.  My reward, more knowledge how to drive safely & a

certificate.  Pls see attached pics.

On Going Adventures

This past weekend we experenced our first & only RV Ralley in Seffner, FL. It is a come on to try to up sell folks into new vehicles. Needless to say we do not need a new vehicle.  We have been traveling the highways of FL which are super highways & learning how to get around this area.  We will be here at Lazydays campground  until 11/28 and still working on our itenerary from here. We are thinking about going to the Keys before settling in for a while. We had a very rainy day today with a temp of 72. Tomorrow will be much different down in the 30's. Upside of this forecast is that there will not be any SNOW!  Miss everyone at work but think of you often. 

This was our campsite last week. Awesome palm trees. The other picture was after we had some breakfast at Cracker Barrel yesterday. Enjoy! 

Cocoa Beach Pier

Yesterday we went to Cocoa Beach Pier to see what it was like. The day was beautiful sunny & warm. People were even surfing at the beach below the pier. 

Cape Canaveral

Visited Port Canaveral yesterday. Weather was chilly & rained all day & the day before. We went up in the Exploration Tower see attached (very windy & had some lunch at Fishlips restaurant. Nice day in spite of the weather. There are two Hugh cruise ships in the background. One is for traveling & the other is a casino. Enjoy! 😃

Arrived in Florida

Finally reached Florida today. We left Savannah earlier & got to our campground in Mims, Fl. We plan to check out the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow. 

Funny thing happened on Rt 95 today. Carp was driving & mentioned that there was a football coming down the highway & sure enough there was. I have attached    some pics for your viewing. The driver waved to me while I was taking pics of the football that he was dragging on a trailer.

South of the Border!

11/6/14  South of the Border just over the NC & SC border line. We stayed in Pedro's campground in Dillon SC. Very nice place. Beautiful weather nice blue sky & temp 64 degrees. Oh yes this is our kind of weather.  enjoy the pictures.    

Charlottesville, VA

Arrived in Charolettesville,VA to visit family. We took a ride on the Skyline Drive in the Shanendish Valley and it was beautiful. Today 11/6 we will be hitting the road to continue our journey south towards Florida.  

Day 1 of Our Great Adventure

November 3, 2014 

We are heading out to begin our new lives of retirement. It is coming at the perfect time after seeing the SNOW!
