10/31/15 - Happy Halloween!🎃
Today we got all set up in our motorhome to enjoy our new home for the season. Currently, we are sitting outside enjoying the beautiful evening!

I have attached some pictures of our site & across the street looking at the pool area. Needless to say we are early for the season because the campground is not really busy yet which is really nice.

Beautiful palm trees!

Hope you enjoyed the pics.

10/29/15 - Thursday - Brunswick, GA

10/29/15 - Today was a travel day again.   We spent the night at a Flying J truck stop. This was quite an adventure. This place was one of the busiest place we have ever seen.

The parking lot was totally full of trucks & some motorhomes. There were so many trucks loaded down with new cars it was like being at a dealership. Tons of activity all night long. My choice would still be Walmart because it is quieter than Flying J.

20/28/15 - North Carolina to South of the Border South Carolina

Today was a driving day again through the rain. We left North Carolina and drove all day & reached South of the Border in South Carolina.

8:10 pm - We just had a wild rain storm with thunder, lightening and we think hail.

I Have attached some pictures from the South of the Border. We are staying in our first campground of this trip entitled Camp Pedro.

Tomorrow we will drive through South Carolina & hopefully reach Georgia.
Carpie with his new friend.
My turn too!
South of the Border just over the line from North Carolina.

Here is me with a giant giraffe!
Crazy large statues.
Carpie from atop a walking bridge that goes over the highway.
Here is the bridge that I mentioned in previous picture.
Beautiful clouds as the sun sets over South of the Border, South Carolina.

Enjoy!

2015/2016 Travels to & Around Florida

10/25/15 - Left home today at 8:45 am headed South.

We made it to Willes Barre, Pennsylvania.    This was our first Walmart stay of the year. Our accommodations were great & it was a nice quiet "campground" if you will. No electric, no hook-ups, but everything was great. Just what we needed after a long day of driving.

10/26/15 - We took to the road a little late, but we needed the rest. We ended up in Hagerstown, Maryland. Once again at a Walmart. We got off the road early so that we could have first dibs on the overnight parking accomdations. This was an adventure. Hellions driving like race car drivers going through the parking lot. After dark they must have gone home so all was fine.

We received a knock on our door from a man from Montreal asking if folks were able to stay overnight in the parking lot. As if we were the manager of the store. This was due to the signs that were posted around the parking lot saying No Overnight Parking.  I told him that I had called ahead of time & Walmart said we could stay in the parking lot overnight.

Campers always help out other campers.   It is like an unwritten rule. We stick together.

10/27/15 - On the road again, heading south. We began on Rt 81 & made our way over to Rt 95.  Traffic was horrible outside of Washington DC. Now we are
In Emporia, VA in yet another Walmart parking lot. This is very busy with truckers & motorhomes. Glad we got here early for a good spot. All settled in for the night. Very rainy & dark. Early to bed for us!

Our excitement in life these days is finding a good spot in the Walmart parking lots before they get filled up!!!

6/21/15 - Home at Last From A Wonderful Dream Come True

6/21/15 - We arrived home today after a wonderful dream come true. Both Carp & I have mixed emotions about our home coming. We both are happy to be home so that can see our families & friends, however, we are sad that this trip has ended. This is not to say that we are done with our travels.

Carp was saying today that he will be sitting down over the weekend to see where we can go next!

We live in such a Beautiful country with so many natural beauties throughout the entire country:  Mountains; waterfalls; oceans; rivers; animals; birds and fellow man.

We had the pleasure of meeting so many people over the past seven months.

Some who will be friends forever & others as casual aquaintances.

Words cannot express the deep feelings we both experenced throughout our trip seeing so many beautiful things. We look forward to our next adventures.

We hope that you have enjoyed our blog.

5/30/15 - Stroudsburg, PA

We traveled to a new campground in Stradsburg, PA.  We spent a day traveling the area & found a couple of waterfalls.

The best waterfall was Dingman Falls. It was beautiful.

We had to walk into the woods for a quarter of a mile, but the walk was worth it.

Yours truly!

Here is another waterfall that was on the walkway as well.
This was SilverThread Falls. Smaller than Dingman's but beautiful just the same.

I climed this flight if stairs to get a better picture of Carp below.

It was a lovely day in spite of some rain.

This was a tree next to the River with some awesome mushrooms on the bark.

Enjoy!

5/29/15 - Elizabethtown, PA

Today we took a trip from Elizabethtown, PA to Mt. Joy, PA to visit to of my childhood friends twins Jane & Janice. We had a wonderful lunch & talked the whole time.

It had been 14 years since we had last seen each other & it was great to visit with them after such a long time.

5/27/15 - Gettysburg, PA

5/27/15 - Today we took a bus tour of Gettysburg, PA.

It was wonderful!  The battle of Gettysburg took place over three days, July 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 1863.

The bus only made one stop within the battlefields so it was difficult to get good pictures, but here are some for your viewing.

We sat up on the top of the open air bus for the tour.

This was a gentleman dressed in clothing if the era who was answering questions of visitors.

Us checking out the cannons.

The back drop of this picture is some of the battlegrounds.

In the evening we went down to the town of Gettysburg & we came upon a statue of Abe Lincoln.

Abe standing with a stature of a visitor.   The building in the background on the left is where Lincoln slept the night before the Gettysburg Address.

The day before this we stopped at the Welcome Center & Abe was there too so we joined him for a picture.

5/24/15 - Another Wonderful Day in Washington, DC

5/24/15 - We had another very busy day in Washington, DC.

We started the day by standing in a long line waiting to see if we could get tickets to go up in the Washington Monument.

We were lucky to get two of the few tickets left for the day. We went up to the top of the Washington Monument at 6:00 pm. It was wonderful. Here are some pictures from atop the monument.
This statue of Washington is in the hall across from the elevator.

Reflecting pool with the World War II Monument in the forefront.

I thought this was a cool picture of the shadow of the monument from inside of it going across the ground below.

White House.

Jefferson Monument over to the right of the picture.

Washington Monument from ground level looking up. You may notice that about 1/3 of the way up the stones change in color.  This is the rest of that story...

"When the monument was under construction in 1854, the Washington National Monument Society ran out of money and the project ground to a halt. Twenty-five years later, the U. S. Government took over and completed the upper two thirds of the structure by 1884 using marble from a different quarry". That is why it is two different colors.

We also attended the Rolling Thunder 2015 Motorcycle Rally.

Rolling Thunder is an annual motorcycle rally that is held in Washington, DC during the Memorial Day weekend to call for the government's recognition and protection of Prisoners of War (POWs) and those Missing in Action (MIAs). The tribute to American war heroes started in 1988 with 2,500 participants.  Now approximately 900,000 participants and spectators are involved with this annual demonstration in Washington, DC.

This took place on Constitution Avenue which was closed to traffic for this rally.

This is a picture of the Washington Police who were also in the ride. It was so awesome to see this.

These are some of the rally members.

Spectators out in the road trying to capture pictures of the riders & bikes.

We finished our day with a free concert on the lawn of the Capital Building.  The Capital  Building is undergoing some renovations however it was still great to see.

They had a monitor high in the sky so that everyone could see the concert. Beautiful sunset in the background.

Prior to the start of the concert they made an announcement that the Secret Service had found a suspicious vehicle nearby and warned us that they were going to check it and there was going to be a loud noise and that we should not be alarmed.

Sure enough, shortly after the announcement we heard an explosion!

In the news the next day we learned that the Secret Service had found a pressure cooker & a propane tank in an abandoned car & they blew up a pressure cooker. It was determined that these items were not a threat, however, they did not want to a chance with so many people attending the concert.
Thank goodness for the Secret Service!

We really enjoyed our stay in Washington, DC with many wonderful things to see and not enough time.
