3/28/15 -Moving Day

3/28/15 - Moving Day. Today we left Lazydays Campground in Tucson,AZ heading west. We were unable to get a campground so we called Walmart in El Centro home for the night. We headed out in the morning & reached out next KOA campground in Chula Vista which is only 8 miles from Tijuana, Mexico.

On the ride we came across AZ via Rt. 8 were we saw the Imperial Sand Dunes upon reaching CA. They were awesome. Just out of no where in the middle of the desert, we saw these wonderful sand dunes.

Below are pictures of a beautiful sunset as we traveled down the highway!

On our way to Chula Vista we were traveling through the mountains at an elevation of 4,000 ft. when we came upon a sign stating that there was a Desert View Tower up ahead. We stopped & this was amazing.

This is a painting of the roof over the entrance door of the tower.

A rock wall near the entrance of the tower.

Off in the distance are mountains & desert.
This was a stone carving at the base of the tower. In the background you can see the mountains & beyond to the desert.

Beautiful cactus were growing around the tower.

As we were driving down a mountain we saw all these windmills that generate electricity. Actually it took away from the beauty of the mountainside.

Awesome mountain!

On the way to San Diego.
We saw all kinds of mountains some with grass, some with cactus and some were all rocks like in the picture above.

A couple of pictures of one of our previous campgrounds that I overlooked in my previous blogs.

These horses were eating an apple out of Carps' hand. It was great.

I was not brave enough to feed the horses. I let Carp take care of that.

3/30/15 - Today we stopped at a Mexican supermarket & it was unbelievable. Everything in the store was so neat & arranged perfectly. I took a picture of part of the produce section.

Enjoy!

Colossal Cave Mountain Park & Saguaro National Park

3/25/15 - Wednesday we went to Colassal Cave Mountain Park in Vail, AZ & Saguaro National Park.

We went down into the bowels of this cave where our guide shared information about the cave.

The first person lived in Colossal Cave Mountain Park over a thousand years ago. Around 900 ad the Hohokam Indians formed a thriving community, farming in the valley below Colossol Cave and using the Cave itself for shelter, storage, and as a shrine.
This was a very interesting tour.

All around this cave there were mountains covered with cactus.  Cactus everywhere.
Carp enjoying the cactus' in behind him.

These cactus were magnificent.

Awesome!
Giant cactus!

There was also a ranch connected with the cave.
This sign was over the entrance of the ranch.
This sign was over the road as we exited the cave/ranch area.

Our next stop was at Saguaro National Park.
This sign was at the entrance of the park.
This was a cactus outside the visitors center.

We took an eight mile loop ride around the National Park. Absolutely amazing. We have never seen so many cactus in one place. Fantastic!

This was a dead cactus with a bird sitting on top.

What looks like sticks are actually cacti all over the mountain.

Tombstone, AZ

P3/23/15 - Tombstone, AZ

Today we went to Tombstone, AZ stopped @ Boothill & saw gravesites of famous people from the Wild West. Some were hanged, some committed suicide, most were shot during gun battles, and a lot of the graves said unknown.

We went into town to the SaloonTheater where Tombstones historical gunfights were reenacted. We took a step back in time to the Wild West and a town dubbed "The Town Too Tough to Die".

It was an awesome portrayal of the Wild West.

Actual guns were fired in this tiny theater so they gave out ear plugs to use so  we would not damage our hearing.

This is a picture of one of guys who got shot during the gunfight.

Here is Carp with the Marshall.  Watch  out Carp!

Anyone for a stagecoach ride?

The famous Bird Cage Theater.

Picture of the Main Street in Tombstone. Buildings just like back in the Wild West.

There was also a recreation of the shoot out with Wyatt Earp & the outlaws at the OK Corral.

It was a wonderful visit which took us back to the days of the Wild Wild West!
