St. Augustine, FL

3/8/15 - We arrived at Indian Forest Campground in St. Augustine today for a two night stay.

3/9/15 - We took a Red Train Tour of the city & it was great. You could get on & off the train @ any sites we wanted to visit.

We started out at the Fountain of Youth. It was a wonderful take.  Ponce DeLeon here to greet us.

Carp wanted to get a gallon of the water to drink to help him stay young, however, after a tiny sip of the water, we both decided that we would have to find something else to keep us young. The taste of the water was extremely bad. Too much of a sulfur taste. Yuck!

Yes, you are seeing correctly. This is an albino peacock. He was trying to attract a female. He was flapping his feathers & makes loud screeching noise for the females & for the ladies as well.

The female was not even phased at all by the actions of this guy.
This peacock was so beautiful. These birds were roaming the property freely at the Fountain of Youth.

Isn't this bird magnificent? He just sat on the fence & let me take his picture.

We were told that they sold peanuts in the gift shop so we got some & Carp had fun letting the peacocks eat them out if his hand.

Carp was brave to let them eat from his hand & they did not try to bite him.

Still chasing the females.
This female was fanning her feathers too.

We boarded the red train at the Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum.

The Ripley's was previously a castle with 21 rooms & ONE bathroom before it was bought be Ripley's.

This was part of the Ripley's building & it has beautiful plants hanging in each arch of the building. Lovely!

This was a horse on the Ripley's property made from 1950's & 1960's chrome  car bumpers. Story below.

This is a pic of the log house. It looked like a motorhome inside. Amazing!
This was a bar inside the log house. Fantastic workmanship inside this log house.

Our next stop was at the Fort that was in the city. This fort was from the Spanish-American War.

This was a tower that was on the top floor if the fort.

Picture of the Intercoastal Waterway from the top floor of the fort. Masts in the distance are on the ship that was used in the movie Pirates of the Carribean.

In the distance you can see the oldest lighthouse in America.

Carp checking out one of the cannons.
Some of the cannons used during the war.
Engraving on the one of the cannons. Amazing!

Just me posing!

At the end of the day we finally stopped at this Mill Top Tavern for a bite to eat.
The next picture shows why it is called the Mill Top Tavern.
Lots of steps. The next pic is of a water wheel outside the open window of the tavern.

As you can see we had a very busy day of being tourists. Very enjoyable!
Enjoy a taste of St. Augustine, FL. 😄
