4/16/15 - Heading North to Oregon

Today we headed North to Oregon. We took to Rt. 101 again for our trip North to Oregon. Along the route we came across Paul Bunyan & Blue Ox.

We learned that Paul Bunyan lost his right arm to a tree branch that fell and took it off.

Paul Bunyan.

Paul Bunyan & Blue Ox.

The Trees if Mystery are the huge Redwoods & they have a gondola that goes over the trees for visitors to see the Redwoods from above.

This statue is quite large. Just look at the size of his boot.

After we left the Paul Bunyan statue, we rounded a corner to this beautiful site.

As we proceeded further we went through the Jedediah Smith State Park.

Along this highway of narrow switchback roads we came across the Smith River. Absolutely Beautiful.

Rock explaining the tunnel through the mountain.
We stopped at a rest area just before the tunnel that we had to go through. This tunnel was a life saver which meant that we did not have to go over the mountain.

At about 2:55 pm we crossed over the Oregon border. It was a scary ride on the narrow mountain so we were happy to see we made it to Oregon.

We went out to the grocery store after we arrived & this is what we saw off in the distance. Absolutely beautiful mountain in the distance with snow on the top.

Short story but sweet.  Til later.
