4/4/15 - The Big Sur

4/4/15 - We took a trip down the Big Sur on Saturday.

Words cannot explain the beauty of the magnificent coast. Around each turn, and I mean hairpin turn, there was a more beautiful site. See for yourself.

We began with a drive thru of Montery and moved on to Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Next we headed back onto Rt. 1 and our trip down the Big Sur began.

There was an outdoor wedding taking place on this beach at the Carmel River as we were passing by.

Off in the distance is the wedding taking place on the beach. Beautiful setting with the river as a backdrop.

A nice young lady took this picture of us.

So beautiful.

Very cold & windy on the Big Sur.

That white froth is a sea otter swimming around in the water below.

The sea otter was down in this area swimming around. There were actually two sea otters here.

Onward & upward!

At sunset the sun shins through the hole at the bottom!

Now, if you have ever seen pictures of the Big Sur,  I am sure that you would have seen this bridge. It is the Bixby Bridge it is the longest bridge spanning two mountains. It is a historic bridge built in 1932.

This is a picture of the Bixby Bridge from the back side of the bridge with the ocean behind it.

We have waited all our lifetime to see this natural beauty. Magnificent!!

After viewing the Big Sur & all it's glory we came across the Big Sur River Inn & Resturant. It was wonderful. The food was great & the atmosphere was fantastic. We sat at an outdoor area that was overlooking a shallow river. We were told that if we wanted to after we were finished with our lunch, we could sit in the chairs that were in the water & have  a drink & relax.
The picture is not large enough to see the chairs in the water with the shallow river moving along. Very unique!

Private ranch on the road with cows grazing & resting.

Sunset from the step of the motorhome back at the campground at the end of the most wonderful day.

Hope you enjoy!
