4/2/15 - Hearst Castle & Elephant Seals

4/2/15 - Today we went to the Hearst Castle.

We had a wonderful day today. We arrived at the base of the mountain & took a bus five (5) miles up the mountain, which took 15 minutes.

We rode up this winding "s" curved road to reach the Hearst Castle at the top. So beautiful!  You could see for miles & miles & it all belonged to William Rudolph Hearst until his upon which this property & lands were willed to the state of California so that others may enjoy it.

We had a movie about the life of Hearst & a guided tour around the castle. Very fascinating.  The grounds surrounding the castle were beautifully manicured.

They are currently doing a some maintenance to the castle.
Picture of the front door of the castle.
Beautiful gardens & statues throughout the property.

Hearst owned the kand all the way to the ocean for miles.

Absolutely beautiful!

Amazing the detail to these.

I hope that everyone will one day have the opportunity to visit the castle!

Part B of the day...

We drove another four miles North up Route 1 & we found a Seal Rookery for Elephant Seals.

The rookery is a cove where the female seals give birth to their pups.

Here are some awesome pictures of the seals on the beach.

Seals all over the beach.
The seals flip sand up over their bodies & lay in the sand waiting to give birth.

Mother Nature is wonderful & fasinating!

Enjoy!!!
